Abstract: Over the past thirty years of composite materials history says that it has been the dominant emerging materials which have proved with their weight to strength ratio, but the present scenario is to do them cost effective. Presently our work is been focused on the development of the composite by the use of sugarcane bagasse fibre in order to study its mechanical properties. Many of the researches are on going towards these natural fibre composites in order to replace few materials like plastic and ceramics. In this work we have focused on the preparation of a polymer matrix composite using sugarcane bagasse fibre which intern helpful to study regarding its mechanical behavior. For this we have adopted the basic hand lying method, which is a easy and reliable methods. The bagasse was successively treated with 14% Toulene solution and then later with 1M Citric acid and was sun-dried. Composites having different percentage weight fraction of 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 % of sugarcane bagasse fibre for different laminates were made. Later it has cutted or prepared for the tests and the interfacial behaviour of these composites was determined by tensile test and flexural test.

Abstract: A cooling tower is a heat and mass transfer device commonly used to dissipate waste heat from devices like condensers in power plants, compressors, pumps in industries. Cooling tower works on the principle of evaporative cooling in which sensible heat of water is given to air result in an increase in the latent heat of air. It offers an effective alternative at locations where there is cooling water scarcity and where hot water discharge causes an environmental concern. The effective cooling of water depends on various process parameters like a dry bulb and wet bulb temperature of the air, fill material and its size, inlet air flow rate, air inlet angles, water flow rate, and temperature, etc. The present paper is a detailed analysis of the counter flow cooling tower by changing the packing material. Considering a common application to design a simple evaporative- counter flow cooling tower. The cooling tower is then modeled in Solid works. The approach of this project is to check the effect of change in packing material over the effectiveness and range of the cooling tower. The experimental setup of the physical model of the cooling tower is to be analyzed to study the real-time effect. All the required data is taken from the Steam table by R.S. Khurmi and S. Chand and Refrigeration and psychrometric properties handbook by M. L. Mathur and F. S. Mehta.

Abstract: Abstract: Design and Development is an essential task in today’s developing market. Product design is an important part of technology; it is one of the first step in many to creating a new product. In todays competitive world and a global era, design and development of product plays a very vital role. The development process starts from origin of product and it ends with is use. Thus in the development of any product, it should be optimized and well planned. In this paper, the design of quick shifting mechanism for four speed gear box is done by using 3-D modeling software like solid works. The finite element analysis is done for checking quality in regards to stress analysis.

Abstract: This study sought to assess the contribution of technological change over the 1990s to the performance of manufacturing industry in Sub-Sahara Africa. Applying the Multivariate Multilevel Statistical modelling tools, the study investigated variability in productivity growth across firms within and between countries in Africa due to technological change, firm and country- specific effects. The results established that variability in productivity growth duet technological change over the period was not significant. The study established that variability in productivity growth across firms has been due to physical and human capital and labourinputsand not technology and so policy efforts must be concentrated on creating the environment for building technological capacity specifically in Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Cameroon.

Abstract: This study investigated the properties of particle boards produced from composite of renewable lignocelluloses particles of sidaacuta plant, a non-toxic environmental friendly adhesive processed from extracted mucilage of cissuspopulnea stem and a commercial synthetic adhesive poly vinyl acetate. Cissuspopulnea adhesive and poly-vinyl adhesives were used as treatment at percentage mixing ratio of 0 and 20, 5 and 15, 10 and 10, 15 and 5, 20 and 0% by weight of total resin in the binding of processed sida acuta particles for the production of particle boards. 24 samples of dimension 150mm x 50mm x 10mm were produced in processing order of mixing, mat formation, hot pressing, air curing and trimming, thereafter subjected to flexural strength and physical tests to determine the boards Modulus of Rupture (MOR), Modulus of Elasticity (MOE), Internal Bonding strength (IB), Moisture Absorption capacity (MA) and Density of the boards. The mean of the data obtained from the tests conducted on the particle boards were tabulated and statistically analyzed using descriptive charts and ANOVA. Results obtained revealed that the board MOE, MOR, IB, MA and Density range between 18.6N/mm2 – 66.8N/mm2 , 0.135N/mm2 – 0.365N/mm2 , 0.56 X 10-3 N/mm2 – 1.31 X 10- 3N/mm2 , 9.4% – 12.3%, 0.40g/cm3 – 0.50g/cm3 respectively and Analysis of Variance showed no significant difference (P > 0.05) in the physical and mechanical properties of the boards at the percentage levels of treatments used. These results confirmed the suitability of sida acuta particles and cissuspopulnea adhesive as potential materials for the manufacturing of particle board, which implies that sida acuta particles can be used as substitute for non-available or non-renewable lignocelluloses particles while cissuspopulnea can partially or fully replace synthetic (poly vinyl acetate) adhesive to enhance production of low cost particle boards. This work therefore recommend further research on the use of cissuspopulnea adhesive as substitute for other commercial base synthetic adhesives used for particle board production.
